BIO
Michael DelaFlor is a Houston-born, NYC-based actor, writer, and director.
He is a graduate of The William Esper Studio 2-year Mesiner program and holds a BA in Dramatic Literature, Theatre and Cinema History from NYU. He has trained in ensemble and physical theater through Pig Iron School and The Hess Collective.
In 2018, he started an immersive experimental theater company UPDATE, developing a multimedia performance experience in collaboration with actors, dancers, live musicians and visual artists. Throughout 2019, the company presented showings through NYU, Dixon Place, and Alchemical Studios, and premiered off-broadway through the New York International Fringe Festival at Irondale.
Early in the COVID lockdown in 2020, Michael focused on live streaming durational performance art (A LIVING ROOM; 14 Variations). He then started a short-lived artist collective 26B with a group of 12 artists across disciplines. The collective produced a myriad of diverse narrative and experimental projects. During this time, he directed several no-budget short films including MIME, an experimental mime performance, Newspaper, and Oh My Love.
In May of 2022, his one-act play The Bear Tax: A Melting Glacier and Its Friend the Water premiered off-broadway at the Soho Playhouse, and is currently in development as an animated short film through Juniper Productions.
In 2022, Michael wrote and directed the short film Leo, a home invasion crime-thriller that premiered at the Chelsea Film Festival in 2023.
He interned under Oliver Monday in development at Andrew Lauren Productions in 2017, and has apprenticed for The Wooster Group, Elevator Repair Service, Here Arts Center, Clubbed Thumb, and Fresh Ground Pepper.
